Paths of Glory

A brilliant depiction of the absurdity of war, this film tells the story of a French unit during World War I that is ordered to capture a German fortress.

The hopeless operation promises glory for the general leading it, and when it fails, the general orders three men chosen by lot to be shot for cowardice. Their commander rises to defend his men. Douglas is brilliant in his role.
