Atlanta is in the late 1940s. Elderly and headstrong Miss Daisy (Jessica Tandy) lives alone in her large mansion. One day she gets into a car accident, and her son Boolie (Dan Aykroyd) decides to get his mother a chauffeur. Miss Daisy believes she can do quite well on her own, but gradually a warm friendship grows between her and the chauffeur, Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman).
