One day, Alex is captured and ends up under state control. He is chosen to participate in an experiment that will "cure" his mind by removing his tendency to violence. During the experiment, he is given a drug that makes him feel nauseous and averse to violence.
When Alex is released after the trial, he is forced to confront the brutality of society and the consequences of his own past. The former lover of violence feels like an outsider and vulnerable. His past victims and their loved ones want revenge on him. At the same time, Alex begins to reflect on his own identity and the meaning of free will.
