His later work is a trilogy that beautifully portrays life, art, humanity, and the sensuality of eroticism: Decamerone (1971), One Thousand and One Nights (1972), and The Canterbury Tales (1974). Pasolini's last film was Salò (1975), which is still considered one of the most disturbing and shocking films in the history of cinema. Shortly after the completion of Salò, in 1975, Pasolini was brutally murdered. The murderer was never caught.
