As Moss tries to evade his pursuers - and especially a mysterious genius (Javier Bardem) who ends people's lives by throwing a coin - the film also expands the modern American crime film with ancient themes that have been discussed in the Bible.
The Lost Country won two Golden Globes: Ethan and Joel Coen won for best screenplay and Javier Bardem for best supporting actor. The film also won four Academy Awards: best picture, director, adapted screenplay and supporting actor (Bardem).
