John Wayne is Rio Bravo's Chance, a low-key westerner who is no stranger to everyday heroism and even stronger emotions than fire. Dean Martin plays the deputy, reeling from a two-year drinking binge; Walter Brennan is adept as the bad-tempered deputy with a heart to share. Adding to the tasty cactus soup are a young gunfighter who wants to show off his skills (Ricky Nelson) and a local beauty (Angie Dickinson) who doesn't always give Chance a cool look.
