The story begins with Thelma and Louise's boring and routine everyday life. They decide to go on a weekend trip away from all their responsibilities and worries. However, during the trip, they get into trouble when Thelma has to defend herself against a man who is sexually assaulting her and kills him in self-defense.
After the fatal incident, Thelma and Louise realize that they are now outlaws and are forced to flee from the police. They decide to continue their journey across the country and at the same time experience a sense of freedom that they have never experienced before. Along the way, they meet different people, experience romances and make bold decisions.
With the police and the media hounding them, Thelma and Louise make a drastic decision that will change their fate forever. Their journey ends in a dramatic and memorable way.
