"Vanilla Sky" follows a young and wealthy David Aames (played by Tom Cruise), who is enjoying life to the fullest. He is a successful publishing company owner and enjoys many privileges, such as wealth, beauty and adventure. He also has many relationships with women, but he has not yet found true love.
When David meets Sofia Serrano (played by Penélope Cruz), he feels that he has found the one. Their relationship blossoms, but at the same time David is faced with terrifying events that confuse his mind. After a tragic event, David's life changes completely, and he is forced to face questions between reality and illusion.
David's reality begins to shatter as he is forced to trace the truth about events he cannot understand. He dives deep into the depths of his own mind and encounters unreality and nightmares. He tries to figure out what is real and what is just an illusion created by his mind.
