Hank Moody, a writer and divorced father of a 13-year-old daughter, whose career is on the wane and whose relationship with his daughter's mother is, to say the least, challenging - not to mention his other relationships with women. Hank's obsessions are honesty and self-destructive behavior, i.e. alcohol, drugs and one-night stands. So it's no wonder that he often finds himself in situations that surprise even himself.
