Nicholas Angel's efficiency and professionalism are the envy of his colleagues, and he is transferred to a small, peaceful village called Sanford. At first, Nicholas sees the transfer as punishment, but he soon begins to suspect that all is not well in this seemingly idyllic village. Together with his goofy but friendly police partner Danny Butterman (played by Nick Frost), they begin to investigate the strange happenings in the village.
