However, their encounter quickly turns into a nightmare when they are kidnapped by a local fundamentalist religious cult. The cult, led by charismatic pastor Abin Cooper (played by Michael Parks), believes that they are doing God's work by punishing sinners.
The boys' parents and local police soon learn of the kidnapping and attempt to rescue the boys. However, the situation quickly escalates when the local police force enlists the help of federal forces. A bloody standoff and deadly events ensue.
"Red State" is a suspenseful thriller that explores themes of religious extremism and violence.
