The story is set in the year 2077, when the Earth has suffered from a great war. Humanity has moved away from Earth, and Jack Harper (Actor Tom Cruise) and his partner Victoria (Actor Andrea Riseborough) are left behind to maintain a surveillance system.
Their job is to take care of the drones that protect the remains of Earth from space-dwelling invaders, known as "Scavengers". Jack and Victoria live high in a skyscraper and work as a team to monitor their area and make any necessary repairs.
Everything changes when Jack meets a mysterious woman named Julia (Olga Kurylenko), who awakens a strange sense of familiarity in him. This event triggers a series of events that make Jack question his own role and worldview.
Soon, Jack uncovers the truth that everything he has believed to be true may not be so. He finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy and a fight for survival that will lead him to confront the secrets of the Scavengers and uncover the truth about the fate of humanity.
