The story begins when Memphis learns that his brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) is in danger. Kip has started stealing cars and is doing business with a dangerous crime boss, Raymond "Calm" Calitri (Christopher Eccleston). Calitri threatens to kill Kip unless Memphis agrees to complete a mission that includes stealing the cars listed for him.
Memphis reunites his former team of thieves and begins planning a major heist. They have only a few days to recover all the cars while avoiding the attention of both the local authorities and the crime bosses' rivals.
Each car heist is a unique and challenging mission, and the heists are carried out quickly and with precision. However, the focus of the action is the relationship between Memphis and his brother and their attempts to save each other from a life-threatening situation.
