Tore and Märeta's daughter Karin charms most people with her golden hair and sky-blue eyes; she is loved by everyone. According to folklore, only a virgin is allowed to bring a candle to the Holy Virgin, so Karin sets off on a horse ride to the church one morning. On the way, Karin meets three vagabonds, to whom she offers to give part of her lunch.

The trio is not satisfied with just food, but the maiden is disgraced and killed. Even her beautiful clothes are taken. The robbers…
