The completely run-down cafe is run by a strong-willed black single mother, Brenda. One day, like a mirage, a stranger dressed in a tight jacket and a feather hat arrives, dragging her suitcase, a German lady far from home, Jasmin Münchgestettner. Despite the extremely rude reception, Jasmin decides to settle down.
Over time, little by little, Bagdad Café becomes the liveliest cafe in the entire desert. Directed by Percy Adlon, Bagdad Café premiered in 1987 unnoticed, in small copies, without much marketing. However, the audience discovered it and the film became a success all on its own. Bagdad Café is a film that inevitably divides opinions, you either love it or find it extremely boring.
