Drake doesn't want this kind of publicity, so he uses his power to destroy Eddie's career and, along the way, his relationship with his girlfriend Anne Weying. While investigating one of Drake's experiments, Eddie encounters the alien symbiote Venom, an intelligent parasite that needs a human body to survive. Venom merges with Eddie, granting him incredible new superpowers and the ability to do practically anything he wants. Twisted, dark, unpredictable, and driven by anger, Venom forces Eddie to grapple with how to control his dangerous abilities, which he finds empowering and intoxicating. As Eddie and Venom need each other to get what they want, they become even more intertwined.

Eddie Brock struggles to survive with his parasitic symbiote, Venom, who has landed from space. While Eddie wants to get his journalism career back on track after the events of the previous film, Venom wants to eat people and expose himself to the world. In search of his next big story, Brock gets an exclusive interview with death-row serial killer Cletus Kasady. Kasady escapes prison and discovers Eddie's secret after being infected by the symbiote Carnage.
