The society is ready to do anything to protect a secret that would overturn a doctrine that is more than 2,000 years old. The murdered man is a high-ranking member of this ancient organization. However, he manages to leave clues at the scene of the murder that only two people in the world can solve: the victim's granddaughter, a respected cryptographer, and her colleague, a famous symbologist.
Angels and Demons
The new film from the creators of The Da Vinci Code is based on Dan Brown's best-selling novel Angels and Demons. Tom Hanks continues to star as Harvard professor of religious symbology Robert Langdon. Ron Howard is once again in charge of directing, with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and John Calley producing. The screenplay is by Akiva Goldsman and David Koepp. When Langdon discovers signs that the ancient Illuminati brotherhood - the most powerful secret society in world history - has been revived, he is shocked to discover that the very existence of the secret society's archenemy, the Catholic Church, is threatened. When Langdon learns that the Illuminati's time bomb is ticking, he rushes to Rome. There, he enlists the help of Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful but enigmatic Italian researcher. As Langdon and Vetra set out to trace the path marked by 400-year-old symbols, a breathtaking and action-packed chase begins through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs and abandoned cathedrals to the depths of the world's most secret vault. Ultimately, their detective work becomes the Vatican's last hope for avoiding destruction.
