However, May's unconventional cousin, Countess Olenska, catches Newland's attention more effectively.
A Long Day's Evening
Stevens, the epitome of the perfect British butler, keeps all the strings of the household in his hands with impeccable impeccability and calm nonchalance. The master of the house is Lord Darlington, who has connections to the Nazis. The balance of power in the house is shaken when a new housekeeper sweeps in through the servants' door, and her energy and resourcefulness soon leave their mark on the house. Stevens watches the new housekeeper's antics in amazement, but the strong-willed woman eventually takes a permanent place in the stiff butler's heart. A subtle romance slowly begins to blossom, hidden from the host's eyes.
