Through the innocent dialogue of Laura Dern and Kyle MacLachlan, accompanied by music by Angelo Badalamenti, we move directly to Isabella Rossellini and Dennis Hopper's hell. Dennis Hopper's character is at the top of the list when it comes to choosing the most disgusting villain in film history. Lynch manages to create a mystical, melancholic atmosphere in his film that definitively elevates Blue Velvet to the ranks of classics.
Dune
The year is 10191. Lost Highway
Lost Highway is at once a horror story, a nightmarish murder mystery, an erotic film noir and a black comedy. Its world includes desperate men, femme fatales, expensive cars and cheap motels. Lynch runs two parallel stories in his film. One follows a jazz musician accused of murdering his wife, and the other follows a young mechanic who is humming along with a gangster's swing.
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
This rugged, fascinating film tells the events before the events of director David Lynch's hugely popular Twin Peaks TV series. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me takes the viewer back to the beautiful, yet disturbed town to get to know the community's strange residents and the secrets behind them. FBI Special Agent Chester Desmond mysteriously disappears while investigating the death of waitress Teresa Banks. The following year, another young girl, the queen of the year Laura Palmer, seems to have fallen victim to the evil forces that control the entire community. At this point, Special Agent Dale Cooper takes over the investigation and decides to solve the mystery with his intuitive abilities.
Wild at heart
Lovers Sailor Ripley and Lula Fortune flee the state on a road trip when Sailor, convicted of murder, is released from prison. The young couple, deeply in love, live together under the terror of Lula's mother, who will stop at nothing to seize power. The jealous and vengeful mother throws a mixed bag of freaks in the fugitives' path, all of whom have been hired to end Sailor's days. In Wild at Heart, director David Lynch delves deep into the mythical icons and clichés of American pop culture. Lynch throws elements of fairy tales, soap operas, Elvis and Marilyn myths, melodrama, road movies, and rock rebellion into his alchemist's cauldron. The concoction creates a hysterically overexcited study of the evil, cruel and dirty world hidden behind familiar quotes and meanings - where, in the end, good triumphs over evil, love over hate, as always in fairy tales.
