The Deer Hunter

A bleak portrayal of three Pennsylvania steelworkers who are plucked from their friendly hunting adventures and the orthodox idyll of a small factory town into the hell of Vietnam. War is a Darwinian struggle and total chaotic destruction without rules or sense of the outside world. The brutality and utter inhumanity of the battle transforms the friends into a nervous wreck, an angry man, and a hero, who spiritually live in Nam even after returning home.
