Ikiru - The Doomed
Bureaucrat Watanabe, who works for the city government, goes to the hospital with stomach problems. The doctor takes an X-ray and discovers that Watanabe has cancer and only six months to live.
Shocked by this information, Watanabe decides to live the rest of his life to the fullest. First, he tries to get in touch with his son, whom he hasn't seen since his wife's death. He withdraws all his savings and has a wicked night on the town. After that, he flirts with a young woman in the office. But nothing gives him peace of mind.
Then he remembers the women he met who wanted a playground in their neighborhood. The women had fallen victim to the city's bureaucracy and the playground was never built. Watanabe decides to use his last strength to get the women a park.
