The story begins when Joe and Jerry witness the murder of a Chicago mob boss and are caught by the murderer himself. They decide to escape the situation and dress in women's clothing to join an all-female band called Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopators, which is on its way to Miami, Florida.
Joe takes on the disguise of Josephine as his alter ego, while Jerry becomes Daphne. They plan to remain unnoticed and escape their pursuers, but the situation becomes even more complicated when Joe falls in love with the band's lead singer, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), who is looking for a rich man and is attracted by Josephine's charm.
The film follows the misadventures and adventures of Joe, Jerry and Sugar as they navigate romantic twists, misunderstandings and conflicts. The climax of the story comes when they are caught up in a disguised boat ride, which also involves a mob boss and a mysterious millionaire.
"Peaceful Places" is known for its hilarious comedy, witty dialogue and iconic performances. Marilyn Monroe's performance as Sugar Kane is particularly noteworthy.
