The story begins when Dickson is sent to the space station to stop Uschi Künstler's plot. Künstler's goal is to use the surveillance system to rule the world and cause a global catastrophe. However, Dickson's problem is that he is not a very competent agent and constantly fumbles with his tasks.
Dickson tries to survive the mishaps and solve the case together with the crew of the space station, which also includes his former partner, Agent Victoria Wood (Ophélie Winter). They encounter various comical situations and strange characters on the space station.
The film is full of fast-paced chases, slapstick humor, and absurd situations. Dickson tries to find out Künstler's plans and stop him before it's too late. He has to face various hilarious challenges and setbacks on his way.
"A Space Travesty / Pelastakaa pressa" offers light humor and parody at the expense of agent films. The film contains references to well-known space films and police films, as it combines different genres. Inspector Richard Dickson, played by Leslie Nielsen, brings hilarious humor and clumsy charm to the film.
